The Whisky Jar in Manchester’s northern quarter is said to host one of the best open mic nights in the city centre and Shimeon has recently made two appearances performing his original songs. To a rapturous response, the singer songwriter was met with great enthusiasm.

At a previous gig back in 2008 Shimeon had been met with a great noisy crowd at the soup kitchen (as documented by the BBC) but now Manchester’s music scene has changed and the receptive audience is more appreciative.

Accompanied by his acoustic guitar Shimeon cruised through a number of songs from his repertoire. These included critically acclaimed “Where Love Betrays” and well loved “Strange World“.

Back in 2008 Shimeon is reported as telling a noisy crowd “You really are ignorant” but in 2025 Shimeon is looking forward to playing more gigs in Manchester’s music scene.
